MERK

Remember to pack those socks, sharpeners and soap for Sumiswald!

9 March 2012 – The Swiss Mennonite Mission (Nothilfe) invites you to participate in a special part of the MERK programme. We want to extend our hands in a practical way, to give the gift the of human dignity, by collecting material for hygiene kits and school kits as well as new, good-quality underwear and socks for distribution. These can be brought to Sumiswald, where the material will be prepared for transport.

The goods will be distributed to Romany people in Serbia and Albania, people who are marginalised in their societies and live in extreme poverty. We want to contribute to aid projects that work to improve their situation in their own countries. For this purpose, SMM is cooperating with Bread of Life (Serbia) and Virginia Mennonite Missions (Albania). Jasmina Tosic of Bread of Life will be at the MERK to present a workshop.

Through this project, SMM Nothilfe wants to give hands and feet to the MERK theme "Hands reaching across borders". Anyone coming to the MERK can inspire their friends, family, neighbourhood and church to participate in collecting for or donating to this project.
